Hvannadalshnjukur and Oraefajokull glacier

Vatnajökull glacier boasts the highest elevation in Iceland, Hvannadalshnúkur at 2,115 m or 6,870 feet. Hvannadalshnjúkur is the peak of Öræfajökull glacier which extends south from the Vatnajökull icecap. Öræfajökull and its surrounding areas offer good skiing in winter, and are very popular with walkers and hikers all year round.
