Haukafell is the local forestry and a popular outdoor area of the local people of the Vatnajokull Region with many hiking trails. Haukafell is East of Fláajökull glacier and was established in 1985 when the local forestry society started planting in the area. A campsite is in Haukafell with good washing facilities.
